Lautaro Martinez’s representative, Alejandro Camano, asserts that the Inter standout is already contemplating future endeavors but suggests a lack of urgency in committing to a contract extension with the Nerazzurri.
Martinez’s absence from the decisive penalty shootout against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday was instrumental in Inter’s exit from the Champions League Round of 16.
In his recent discourse with CalcioNapoli24, Camano addressed his client’s response to the outcome.
“He exhibits resilience. He comprehends the vicissitudes inherent in football. While the disappointment looms large, he remains content at Inter, where he shoulders the weight of captaincy,” affirmed the agent, as cited by Calciomercato.com.
“Following the setback against Atletico, our focus shifts to forthcoming objectives, particularly targeting a resurgence in the Champions League next season. The imperative for bolstering the squad is evident, given the financial ramifications associated with this competition.”
Martinez’s current tenure at the Stadio Meazza expires in June 2026, prompting ongoing negotiations between Inter and his representative spanning several months. Camano convened with Inter officials ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League encounter against Atletico.
“Lautaro is currently in an auspicious phase. With two years remaining on his contract, and given my prior association as Hector Cuper’s agent, a former Inter coach, relations with the club are amicable,” stated Camano.
“Given the substantial duration remaining on his contract, dialogue is ongoing and can proceed deliberatively. Lautaro acknowledges that Inter presently takes precedence.”
As Inter prepares to face Napoli at the Stadio Meazza on Sunday, Camano fielded inquiries regarding the possibility of his client transitioning to the Stadio Maradona.
“Napoli perennially entices Argentinean players. Maradona’s legacy holds profound sentimental value for Argentina. However, at present, Lautaro remains content at Inter,” responded Camano.
Furthermore, Camano revealed previous discussions with Aurelio De Laurentiis concerning three other clients: Borja Mayoral, Achraf Hakimi, and Alvaro Negredo.
“I am genuinely impressed by Inter’s tactical ethos,” affirmed Martinez’s agent.
“In my assessment, they epitomize the zenith of Italian football. The forthcoming clash between Inter and Napoli promises to captivate audiences across Europe, pitting two resolute teams against each other.”
