Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich’s seasoned goalkeeper, has unfortunately encountered another setback with a recent injury, which has led to his withdrawal from the German national team’s friendly matches against France and the Netherlands. This development comes after Neuer had made a comeback from a broken leg sustained earlier. The extent of his current injury and the impact it will have on his availability for Bayern Munich’s upcoming Champions League match against Arsenal remain to be seen, as the club has not provided a definitive return date.
They said in a statement: “Manuel Neuer left early due to a torn muscle fibre in his left adductor and is out of the two upcoming international matches. He sustained the injury in training that morning. Get well soon, Manu.”
Bayern has also confirmed that Neuer is sidelined and will return to the club to begin his recovery. The diagnosis was made by the medical unit of the German national team.
“Manuel Neuer has torn a muscle in his left adductor while training with the German national team,” the Bundesliga giants said in a statement.
“The diagnosis was confirmed by the DFB medical unit. The FC Bayern captain will therefore miss the upcoming friendlies against France and the Netherlands and return to Munich.
Manuel Neuer’s recent injury during training has indeed raised concerns about his participation in Bayern Munich’s forthcoming crucial matches. Bayern is scheduled to face Borussia Dortmund on March 31, 1. FC Heidenheim on April 6, and then Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals on April 10.
In Neuer’s absence, Sven Ulreich is likely to take over the goalkeeping duties for Bayern Munich. Ulreich has previously stepped in for Neuer and has experience playing in high-stakes matches. Daniel Peretz, who joined Bayern from Maccabi Tel Aviv, is another option for the goalkeeper position. Peretz is considered a promising talent and could be called upon if needed.
For the German national team, Marc-Andre ter Stegen is expected to be the first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming friendlies against France and the Netherlands, as Neuer will miss these matches due to his injury. Ter Stegen’s experience at Barcelona makes him a reliable choice for Germany’s squad, which also includes Bernd Leno and Oliver Baumann as additional goalkeeping options.
Thomas Tuchel, the Bayern Munich coach, has expressed his views on the team’s draw in the Champions League, describing it as the ‘most difficult road imaginable’ after being paired with Arsenal. His comments reflect the challenging path Bayern faces as they continue their pursuit of European success this season.
