Ralf Rangnick, the former manager of Manchester United, is nearing an agreement to become the next manager of Bayern Munich. Thomas Tuchel, the current manager of the Bundesliga giants, will be leaving at the end of the season.
While Roberto De Zerbi, the Brighton boss, is also being considered by Bayern Munich, Rangnick is currently the leading candidate for the position.
Rangnick previously took charge of Manchester United after the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021, following the interim management of Michael Carrick.
Unfortunately, under Rangnick’s leadership, the Red Devils finished the season in sixth place with 58 points, marking their worst points-total record in Premier League history.
In April 2022, Rangnick was appointed by the Austria national team on a two-year contract, which will commence in June.
Throughout his career, the 65-year-old has managed various clubs including RB Leipzig, Schalke, Hoffenheim, Hannover 96, and VfB Stuttgart.
In the meantime, De Zerbi, another target, has garnered significant attention for his role in guiding Brighton to their inaugural European campaign, achieving a sixth-place finish last season. Speculation has also connected him to the upcoming vacancy at Liverpool.
Nevertheless, these rumors have dwindled in recent weeks as other top contenders for the position have surfaced. The upcoming season will be crucial for Bayern as they aim to recover from losing their first Bundesliga title race since 2012.
