Bayern Munich stalwart Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expresses his confidence in the club’s newly established leadership structure centered around Max Eberl, Jan-Christian Dreesen, and Christoph Freund, envisioning it as a catalyst for future success. In an interview on the TOMorrow Business & Style Podcast, the former player and executive emphasized the readiness of the club for the challenges ahead, indicating a transitional phase where his and Uli Hoeneß’s roles will gradually diminish to allow the new leadership to take the reins fully.
Rummenigge’s return to the supervisory board last summer was motivated by his commitment to the club’s best interests, with the aim of steering it towards a new direction under fresh guidance. Reflecting on his longstanding association with Bayern Munich, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities afforded to him both as a player and an official. Despite initial reservations, Rummenigge believes his decision to reengage with the club was justified, notwithstanding the current sporting standings falling short of expectations.
Acknowledging recent managerial changes, Rummenigge clarified his non-involvement in the decision to dismiss former CEO Oliver Kahn and former sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić. However, he emphasized the imperative of these changes to pave the way for a revamped organizational structure conducive to future success. With the appointment of Dreesen, Eberl, and Freund, Rummenigge remains optimistic about Bayern Munich’s trajectory, reaffirming the collective objective of returning the club to its winning ways.
