According to the Mirror, Xabi Alonso may opt to join Bayern Munich instead of Liverpool as a replacement for Jurgen Klopp.
This comes as Bayern Munich searches for a new manager following Thomas Tuchel’s departure. The Reds are keen on acquiring Alonso’s services, but the Spaniard is more likely to choose Bayern if he decides to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Leverkusen currently sits at the top of the Bundesliga table, 10 points ahead of Bayern, and remains unbeaten in 38 matches this season. Having played for both Liverpool and Bayern in his illustrious career, Alonso may find the allure of returning to either club tempting.
However, he could also choose to stay at Leverkusen and guide them in the Champions League. If he does decide to leave BayArena, Bayern appears to have a better chance of securing his services for the upcoming season. Despite not yet entering negotiations, Bayern remains optimistic about convincing Alonso to join them at the Allianz Arena.
