Bayern is currently evaluating potential candidates to take over as head coach following the confirmation of Thomas Tuchel’s departure from the club at the conclusion of the ongoing season.
The German champions are facing a challenging domestic campaign, trailing Bayer Leverkusen by 10 points in the title race, which could potentially mark the end of their 11-year Bundesliga reign.
Xabi Alonso has emerged as the frontrunner for the position, given his success in leading Leverkusen towards a potential first Bundesliga title.
Despite this, Liverpool is also vying to secure Alonso’s services, prompting Bayern to consider De Zerbi as a viable alternative. Sky Germany has reported that Bayern’s sporting director, Max Erbl, holds a strong admiration for De Zerbi, who notably guided Brighton to European qualification for the first time in their history with a top-six finish in the Premier League last season.
While De Zerbi is aware of Bayern’s interest, a final decision is yet to be reached. Additionally, Barcelona has shown interest in the Italian coach, especially with Xavi expected to depart from the Camp Nou in the upcoming summer.
