According to a report from the reputable sports publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan has identified Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko as the primary targets for bolstering their attacking lineup for the 2024-25 season. However, significant competition from English clubs, specifically Manchester United and Arsenal, poses a considerable challenge for Milan in securing the services of the highly sought-after Bologna star.
Milan’s intention to reinforce their forward line during the January transfer window has been highlighted in the recent printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, where it is stated that Zirkzee is the club’s top priority, followed closely by RB Leipzig’s forward Sesko.
The report indicates that a transfer fee of €40m may not be sufficient to secure Zirkzee’s services, as Bologna is reportedly holding out for a figure in the region of €75m. This valuation aligns with the substantial sum Manchester United paid for the acquisition of Rasmus Højlund last summer. However, Bologna may consider retaining the promising Dutch forward for another season if they qualify for the Champions League.
Although Bayern Munich retains a €40m buy-back option for Zirkzee, sources suggest they are disinclined to exercise it at this time.
Consequently, Milan’s foremost competition for Zirkzee’s signature emanates from the English Premier League. Manchester United has initiated preliminary discussions, while Arsenal’s tactical approach appears well-suited to accommodate the striker’s playing style and attributes.
