According to reports originating from Italy, Olivier Giroud, a striker for Milan, has reportedly reached an agreement to sign an 18-month contract with Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) in Major League Soccer (MLS), commencing from July 2024.
It is publicly acknowledged that the seasoned center-forward has no intention of extending his existing contract with AC Milan, which is set to conclude on June 30.
Expressing a desire to conclude his career with a fresh venture in the United States, Giroud is particularly inclined towards joining Los Angeles FC.
La Gazzetta dello Sport asserts that a preliminary agreement has been finalized for an 18-month contract, slated to commence on July 1, marking his transition to a free agent status.
Giroud initially joined San Siro from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 for a fee just below €3 million, proving to be a highly beneficial acquisition with 46 goals and 20 assists in 121 competitive appearances for the club.
However, as he approaches his 38th birthday in September, Milan must prioritize the cultivation of younger talents for their forward line.
Giroud has demonstrated his enduring prowess, evident in his recent goal-scoring performance during France’s 3-2 friendly victory over Chile, reaffirming his position as the all-time leading scorer in the history of the French national team.
