Liverpool has the opportunity to secure Ruben Amorim for a mere £12.8 million following Xabi Alonso’s decision not to step into Jurgen Klopp’s shoes.
The release clause in Amorim’s contract, set at €15 million, can be activated at the conclusion of this season. However, this amount will decrease to €10 million (£8.5 million) in the summer of 2025.
This clause, agreed upon with Sporting Lisbon, will facilitate negotiations between Liverpool and the 39-year-old Portuguese coach.
Despite previous reports suggesting a higher release fee, Amorim’s success in Portugal, including ending a 19-year title drought with Sporting, has garnered attention.
Liverpool is also considering Roberto De Zerbi, who has a £12 million termination clause with Brighton and Hove Albion. Other options, such as Julian Nagelsmann, are being explored, but Alonso’s commitment to Bayer Leverkusen has ruled him out as Klopp’s successor.
