Nigeria’s captain, William Troost-Ekong, openly acknowledged his awareness of the prospective destination for Victor Osimhen, a player sought after by clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal.
It is widely anticipated that the Napoli star will depart from the Campania capital during the upcoming summer transfer window, particularly given the inclusion of a €120-130m release clause in his new contract. Osimhen himself has alluded to having made a decision regarding his next career move, a sentiment he expressed during a recent press engagement.
Despite the challenges faced by the Napoli project in the past six months, Osimhen has continued to excel, evidenced by his impressive performance of scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 20 appearances this season. Furthermore, his contribution during the recent Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored once and offered three assists, further solidifies his stature.
In an interview with Sky Sport conducted via TMW, Troost-Ekong initially delved into the difficulties encountered by his former clubs, Salernitana and Udinese, over the current season.
“I always follow Serie A, it’s a great league. This weekend with Salernitana-Udinese will be special for me, also because it was also the last match I played in my last season. The points would certainly be more useful to Salernitana than to Udinese.”
