RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan is being closely monitored by both Tottenham and Newcastle United, as per reports. It has been revealed that Simakan’s contract includes a release clause of €70 million.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has stated that both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in securing the services of the versatile defender before the upcoming summer transfer window.
The defender, who joined RC Strasbourg in 2021, has shown great potential to become a future France international while impressing with RB Leipzig. With 27 Bundesliga appearances this season, he has contributed with a goal and an assist in 1,885 minutes on the pitch.
Despite attracting interest from several top clubs last summer, RB Leipzig successfully extended the French defender’s contract until 2027, fending off competition from other European giants.
According to Florian Plettenberg, the 23-year-old is open to a move to the Premier League after his contract includes a €70 million release clause that becomes active this summer, even though his current Transfermarkt value is half that amount.
