Sources have informed Football Insider that Tottenham will need to take into account the summer interest in defender Emerson Royal as they aim to secure signings of their own.
According to senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke , the 25-year-old attracted attention from the Saudi Pro League in January. Despite a turbulent beginning for the Spaniard at Spurs last season, Royal has fallen behind Pedro Porro in the hierarchy following Ange Postecoglou’s appointment.
In the 2023-24 season, the Brazil international has participated in 20 matches across all competitions. However, only 11 of those appearances were as a starter.
In addition to his usual position as a right-back, the defender has also been deployed as a centre-back and left-back by Postecoglou this season.
There are speculations that the potential sale of Emerson Royal could help Tottenham “balance the books” and support their summer plans.
The player was acquired from Barcelona for a reported fee of £25.7 million and is currently contracted until June 2026.
Although Royal has accumulated a total of 97 appearances for Tottenham, he has not been utilized in their last three Premier League games, remaining on the bench as an unused substitute.
