Lazio is currently in the process of identifying a suitable replacement for their head coach following the resignation of Maurizio Sarri. Sarri, aged 65 and of Italian nationality, tendered his resignation unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, following the team’s 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico, less than 24 hours prior.
Despite initial success during his tenure at Lazio, Sarri’s leadership witnessed a decline in the team’s performance throughout this season, culminating in their exit from the Champions League against Bayern Munich and a series of unsatisfactory results in Serie A, thereby intensifying scrutiny on both the coach and the players.
According to reports by Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio has commenced deliberations on potential candidates to succeed Sarri. Among these deliberations, a shortlist of three promising candidates has emerged: Tommaso Rocchi, Miroslav Klose, and Cristian Brocchi.
The resignation of Sarri has been acknowledged and accepted by Lazio’s management. Additionally, discussions have been initiated with Miroslav Klose regarding the possibility of him signing a six-month contract. Simultaneously, negotiations with the remaining candidates are underway, reflecting the proactive approach adopted by club president Claudio Lotito in swiftly addressing the vacancy within the coaching staff.
