In what might appear to be a case of unfortunate circumstances, Forest supporters need not be overly concerned, as Elanga is not expected to be sidelined due to the injury.
The incident occurred during Forest’s recent 1-0 defeat to Brighton earlier this month, despite Elanga not being included in the starting lineup for that particular match. Nonetheless, he seemingly incurred an injury during the course of the game.
Forest’s Elanga, speaking to Fotbollskanalen, remarked, “I know it may sound peculiar, but I didn’t perceive any discomfort. I have sustained a fracture in my ring finger.”
He further explained, “I sustained the injury against Brighton. Following the match, I noticed swelling in the affected area. Upon consulting our team doctor, he indicated that it might be a fracture. To my surprise, although the injury didn’t cause any pain, I initially dismissed it as insignificant.”
Elanga has new manager to try and impress
The 21-year-old winger from Forest embarks on his international duty with the aim of making a favorable impression on Sweden’s new manager, Jon Dahl Tomasson, during the upcoming two-week period.
Elanga has exhibited commendable performance throughout the current season for Forest. Despite his recent acquisition from Manchester United for £15 million during the summer, he has contributed to 12 goals, scoring five times and providing seven assists.
Having represented the national team on 13 occasions, Elanga has netted three goals, and he aspires to secure more starting opportunities under the helm of Janne Andersson.
Forest is heavily reliant on Elanga’s fitness and form for the remainder of the season. Consequently, the news of him not missing any game time due to his latest injury concern is welcomed.
