Lionel Messi’s move to the United States to play during the last summer has unveiled a new chapter in the life of one of the greatest footballers in history. Thanks to agreements signed with Apple TV+, a documentary film chronicling the Argentine star’s quest at the 2022 Qatar World Cup has been released this week.
It is evident that Messi’s decision to continue his football career in a relatively young league like Major League Soccer (MLS) is driven by his desire for more time with family and a quieter life compared to before. Football itself takes a backseat to sports like basketball, American football, or baseball in the United States.
In the documentary film about Messi’s World Cup 2022 journey in Qatar, viewers can witness various scenes depicting his time there. Some scenes capture training sessions, while others portray leisure activities or the atmosphere in the locker room, as well as celebrations when the Argentina national team became champions.
Notably, Messi’s family members, including his mother, Celia, who now resides in Inter Miami, also feature prominently in this documentary film. Celia herself revealed the toughest punishment Messi faced as a child. “Many people say that Messi is different from other children. As he grew up, people truly saw Messi’s talent with the ball, but I had to threaten it many times,” she shared. “If Messi didn’t do his homework, he wouldn’t be allowed to go to practice. That was Messi’s worst punishment as a child.”
