Former Chelsea midfielder Geremi, known for his contributions to the club during the Roman Abramovich era, has recently filed for divorce upon discovering that the two foster children he raised have no blood relation to him.
Geremi, a familiar name to football enthusiasts, became one of the initial signings by the Russian owner, Roman Abramovich, for Chelsea upon acquiring the London-based club. Statistical records indicate that the former Cameroonian star made 109 appearances for Chelsea from 2003 to 2007, scoring 4 goals. Over his four seasons at Chelsea, the 45-year-old midfielder secured consecutive Premier League titles under Jose Mourinho’s management in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons. Additionally, Geremi played for Real Madrid from 1999 to 2003, winning La Liga titles in 2000/01 and Champions League titles in 1999/00 and 2001/02.
Geremi’s name has recently resurfaced in the context of a tragedy involving foster parenthood. The former Cameroon international faced a profound psychological shock upon discovering, through DNA testing, that the two foster children he had raised had no biological relation to him. Notably, the twins were born in June 2008, four years before Geremi and his wife, Laure, got married. It is worth mentioning that Geremi’s decision to marry Laure was partly motivated by the arrival of the twin children.
To Geremi’s astonishment, the two foster children he had cared for turned out to be biologically related to Laure’s ex-husband. “She dealt a heavy blow to Geremi’s spirit and truly devastated him,” a close source to Geremi shared.
