Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández is reportedly open to reconsidering his decision to leave the club in the summer, under one specific condition involving a former board member.
According to El Chiringuito TV, tensions have arisen between Xavi and Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco. Xavi allegedly believes that Deco has been granted too much authority by president Joan Laporta.
Deco currently oversees various critical aspects of Barcelona’s operations, including transfer strategies and the search for a new manager. However, if Deco were to share decision-making responsibilities with a former member of the Barcelona board, namely Jordi Cruyff, Xavi may be inclined to stay.
Jordi Cruyff, son of the legendary Johan Cruyff, previously served as a sporting advisor at Barcelona from 2021 to 2023. Xavi has maintained a positive relationship with Cruyff, and his potential return to the club could sway Xavi’s decision to stay.
Conversely, if Laporta continues to empower Deco with significant influence, Xavi is likely to move on from his role as Barcelona’s coach.
