AS Roma later confirmed that the Ivorian player was conscious and undergoing treatment at the hospital, with his teammates paying him a visit later that Sunday.
The Serie A match between Roma and Udinese came to a halt when defender Evan Ndicka collapsed on the field during the game. The Ivory Coast international fell off the ball with the score level at 1-1 and only 18 minutes left in regular time, requiring him to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher.
Following a 10-minute period of talks, both clubs, in conjunction with referee Luca Pairetto, made a decision to suspend the match, with the decision greeted with applause inside Stadio Friuli.
Roma’s players paid a visit to Ndicka in the hospital, bringing with them uplifting news that came in late on Sunday. It was revealed that the 24-year-old will undergo additional tests and will continue to stay in the hospital.
