Reports suggest that Mikel Arteta is considering a surprising addition to his Arsenal backroom team, with a former Manchester United defender potentially joining the ranks.
In addition to transforming the team on the field, Arteta has been proactive in strengthening his coaching staff by making key appointments.
For instance, Nicolas Jover was recruited from Manchester City to enhance set-piece tactics, resulting in Arsenal becoming the Premier League’s experts in dead-ball situations. Furthermore, Inaki Cana was acquired from Brentford to work as the goalkeeper coach.
The high esteem in which Arsenal’s coaching staff is held is evident from the fact that some have been rumored to be sought after for head coach positions elsewhere.
Arteta seems to be preparing for a potential departure at the end of the season, as reported by ESPN Argentina’s Leandro Alves that Gabriel Heinze might transfer to the Emirates. The 45-year-old has had a relatively unremarkable coaching career in Argentina and a short stint with MLS team Atlanta United.
Currently in London, he is rumored to have discussed the opportunity of joining Arteta’s coaching team, but he also has the chance to lead Argentine club San Lorenzo.
