Forward Kylian Mbappe is expected to spend a substantial sum to acquire a new residence in Madrid. The French star is set to join Real Madrid at the end of this season upon the expiration of his contract with PSG. Seeking to establish a permanent residence, Mbappe has initiated the process of purchasing a home promptly.
Lydia Martinez, the Chief Executive Officer of Steps Recolation, a real estate conglomerate providing comprehensive housing services for the elite, can assess the housing needs of a football star like Mbappe from a professional standpoint. “There are two key aspects that stars like Mbappe seek in their homes: spaciousness and training facilities. Therefore, the home Mbappe is seeking to purchase undoubtedly cannot be situated in the center of Madrid. However, it cannot be too far from the city center either. He is a young individual and does not wish to reside in a secluded area that requires a 45-minute drive to reach a five-star restaurant,” analyzed Martinez in Marca.
“In my experience, the affluent are not overly concerned about housing prices. They often opt for renting until they find their ideal home. The price of a home meeting the requirements of a star of Mbappe’s caliber typically ranges from 12 to 16 million euros. If renting, they are willing to spend between 25,000 to 35,000 euros per month. They usually spend about a year searching for a pre-built home, or two and a half years if considering purchasing land and constructing a house,” Martinez added.
Following Martinez’s suggestion, the upscale neighborhood of La Moraleja in the outskirts of Madrid meets Mbappe’s criteria. Several Real Madrid players, including forward Vinicius, reside in this area.
According to the plan, Mbappe will be unveiled at Real Madrid before departing for EURO 2024 with the French national team. At the Spanish club, the French forward has accepted an annual salary ranging from 15 to 20 million euros, significantly lower than his earnings at PSG (32 million euros).
If Martinez’s forecast holds true, Mbappe will forfeit approximately one year’s salary at Real Madrid to purchase a satisfactory residence. Nevertheless, spending 15 million euros on a home hardly makes a dent in the estimated asset pool of 150 million euros for the French star.
