Teammate of Lionel Messi accused of infidelity, abandoning wife, leading her to sell World Cup memorabilia to make ends meet.
Exequiel Palacios, a star of the Argentine national team that won the World Cup, underwent a marital breakdown with his wife, Yesica Frias. The Bayer Leverkusen player has been accused of infidelity, emotional abuse, and neglecting his wife and children. According to Argentine media reports, the player’s parents also continuously pressured his wife during their time living together, leading to Yesica suffering a miscarriage.
Recently, social media users also discovered that Yesica had sold her husband’s World Cup jersey and championship medal to a collector. Palacios’s wife asserted that these items were her own possessions and no longer belonged to her unfaithful husband.
“These are gifts Palacios gave me, so I have the right to sell them. The medal is just a replica, while the jersey is simply what he wore in the match against Mexico in the group stage. I had to sell them to cover rent. He abandoned me without leaving anything,” Yesica stated.
Additionally, Yesica revealed that she had kept her miscarriage a secret to help Palacios focus on the World Cup. However, immediately after winning the world championship and learning about his wife’s miscarriage, the player demanded a divorce.
“I used to have a stable job and income. However, I gave it up to live with Palacios. Now, he refuses to provide support, leaving me no choice but to sell household items,” the star’s wife born in 1998 added.
Palacios is not a key player for the Argentine national team. At the 2022 World Cup, he only appeared three times as a substitute in matches against Mexico in the group stage, Australia in the round of 16, and Croatia in the semi-finals. Currently, Palacios plays for Bayer Leverkusen. The midfielder has been valued by coach Xabi Alonso and has made 18 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
