Igli Tare, who has shared the pitch with both Simone Inzaghi and Pep Guardiola, asserts that he discerned qualities indicative of their future success as coaches at Inter and Manchester City, respectively.
Tare, a former Lazio director and Albania international striker, collaborated with Inzaghi during their time at Lazio, where Tare later served as a director. Additionally, he played alongside Guardiola at Brescia.
“In both Simone and Guardiola, there was always a palpable sense of something special,” Tare stated in an interview with Radio Deejay. “They possessed that unique quality that sets them apart.”
While acknowledging Inzaghi’s seemingly relaxed demeanor, Tare highlighted the coach’s profound depth of thought and meticulous attention to detail throughout his work.
“Simone may exude an air of relaxation and contentment, but beneath that lies a profound thinker who is intensely focused on every aspect of his work,” Tare remarked. “Furthermore, he possesses a unique ability to establish rapport with both the team as a whole and individual players.”
The two coaches faced off in the previous season’s Champions League Final, where Inter, despite the significant budget disparity, narrowly succumbed to Manchester City under Guardiola’s leadership.
“In Serie A, Inter undeniably stands as the strongest team,” Tare asserted. “While Juventus and Milan also maintain formidable squads, Bologna’s unexpected performances are a delightful surprise, showcasing their exciting brand of football.”
