Sevilla’s president, José María del Nido Carrasco, has shed light on the contract situations of two stalwarts at the club, namely Sergio Ramos and Jesús Navas. As their current deals approach expiry this summer, the club is navigating discussions regarding their future roles.
Ramos, who returned to his boyhood club Sevilla last summer on a one-year contract, has swiftly become a linchpin in Quique’s defensive setup. His leadership and defensive prowess have proven invaluable on the pitch.
On the other hand, Navas, despite approaching his 39th birthday, remains a dynamic force on the wing. His impact has been significant, showcasing the experience and skill that have made him a mainstay in the Sevilla squad.
Given their contributions, it’s no surprise that Sevilla is eager to retain both players beyond this season. President del Nido Carrasco revealed that the club plans to initiate contract discussions with Ramos and Navas in the summer, aiming to secure their services for the foreseeable future.
The final call, though, will ultimately be left with Ramos and Navas themselves:
“We are very happy. Both he (Ramos) and Jesús Navas are two world champions raised in our sports city. They (their contracts) are not issues that we have addressed directly, but we will do so when the season ends. It will depend on what they want.”
