Ruben Amorim remains tight-lipped regarding speculations connecting him to Liverpool’s managerial position, yet his silence hasn’t prevented his players from being linked with Anfield as well.
According to multiple sources, Liverpool seems to view Sporting as their personal Petiscos platter: a taste of Goncalo Inacio, a sample of Ousmane Diomande, and perhaps a serving of Morten Hjulmand from that diverse selection over yonder.
Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Marcus Edwards has recently joined the growing community of Lisboetas. Since January 2022, he has been working under Amorim at Sporting.
Edwards could be acquired for a substantial £30m during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The report also mentions that many Portuguese-based players have high buyout clauses in their contracts, although it does not explicitly suggest a direct correlation in this particular case.
Additionally, Edwards is being considered as a potential replacement for the talented Luis Diaz, who has been linked with transfers to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Nonetheless, being a left-footer predominantly playing on the right wing, Edwards seems to be a suitable candidate to replace Mohamed Salah, who is currently under constant speculation due to his contract expiring in just over a year.
The 25-year-old, a former England youth international, has been a key player for Sporting in Portugal, with 21 goals and 25 assists in 107 appearances across all competitions.
Despite his contributions, Edwards has frequently found himself on the bench in the last three months and has not added to his goal or assist tally since scoring twice in a 5-1 victory against Estoril on 5th January.
