Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is a doubt for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Manchester City next month after suffering an injury on international duty with France.
The 21-year-old was forced off before half-time in France’s 3-2 friendly win over Chile on Wednesday morning (March 27). According to reports in Spain, Camavinga has suffered a sprained ankle.
The France international will now return to Real Madrid and undergo further tests to determine the extent of the damage. If Camavinga has suffered a minor sprain, he is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks, with City due to visit the Santiago Bernabeu on April 9.
Camavinga is therefore facing a race against time to be fit for the first leg of the tie against Pep Guardiola’s side. City knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage last season and Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be keen to gain revenge.
The Spanish giants see City as their biggest obstacle in their bid to win the Champions League for a 15th time.
In other news, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has sent a message of encouragement to Endrick following Brazil’s draw with Spain on Tuesday.
Perez reportedly visited the Brazil dressing room after the game to tell Endrick: “We’re all waiting for you here.”
The 16-year-old striker has scored in both of Brazil’s friendlies since being called up to the senior side for the first time, against England and Spain.
