Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has weighed in on potential successors for Massimiliano Allegri should the Bianconeri decide on a managerial change in the summer.
With Juventus faltering in the title race in recent weeks, attention in Turin is shifting towards next season, where the club aims to solidify its return to the Champions League and potentially qualify for the Club World Cup as part of a new sustainable project.
Allegri’s tenure at Juventus has sparked divided opinions, with some acknowledging his commendable work under challenging circumstances and advocating for his continuation, while others are eager for a fresh start in the club’s new era.
In an interview with Tuttosport, Ravanelli praised Allegri’s accomplishments during his second stint with Juventus.
“Allegri has achieved significant results thus far. Despite the upheaval within the club and various challenges faced, he secured a third-place finish and Champions League qualification last year,” Ravanelli remarked. “Navigating through a myriad of obstacles, Allegri demonstrated resilience. This season, he initially propelled the team to overperform, keeping pace with Inter, who have maintained superiority.”
Ravanelli then suggested two potential replacements for Allegri if Juventus opts for a change.
“If the aim is for a proven figure, then Conte is the obvious choice. Having played alongside Antonio, I can attest to his innate winning mentality, coupled with his intimate knowledge of the environment,” Ravanelli stated. “Alternatively, if the club seeks a young, up-and-coming coach akin to Lippi’s appointment in the past, Thiago Motta fits the bill. He has showcased his coaching prowess and is primed to helm a top-tier club.”
Currently, Juventus occupies the second spot in the Serie A standings after 25 matches, trailing league leaders Inter by nine points, with the latter also having a game in hand.
