Yesterday, Barcelona president Joan Laporta disclosed that the club has been fielding offers in the realm of €200 million for players such as Lamine Yamal.
Laporta stated, “We have received offers for players like Lamine Yamal, up to €200 million, and we have declined. We have faith in the player and his potential in sports, and we do not find it necessary, quite the opposite [to sell him].”
According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain purportedly made the offer. Nonetheless, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that PSG did not submit any formal bid.
In actuality, PSG merely inquired about the availability of the 16-year-old player and nothing more.
What’s the story?
The reporter noted that despite PSG’s keen interest in Yamal, no formal offer has been extended. Furthermore, there has been no communication between the French club and Barcelona as of yet. However, given the level of interest expressed, it is plausible that such communication may occur in the future.
“Sources guarantee that the club that is prepared to approach Barcelona for Yamal is PSG. There is an interest from PSG, but at the moment, we do not have the confirmation or official proposal, but we know how it works,” said Romano.
“The word is about asking information, trying to approach clubs, using agents as part of this,” he added.
Barcelona will say no anyway
It should be emphasized that Yamal constitutes the foundation of Barcelona’s project, as highlighted by Romano. Even in the face of financial challenges, Barcelona will decline any offer for the forward, even if it amounts to €200 million.
The 16-year-old prodigy, integrated into the senior squad this season, has demonstrated remarkable prowess for the team, tallying six goals and seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Considering his talent and potential for further development, it is rational for Barcelona to rebuff offers, irrespective of their monetary value.
