Stefano Pioli, Milan’s head coach, has officially announced that Fikayo Tomori, the English international defender, is set to be included in the Rossoneri squad for their upcoming Serie A encounter against Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio on Friday evening.
Pioli, speaking during his pre-match press conference on Thursday, succinctly confirmed Tomori’s inclusion in the squad with a single word, “Yes.”
The 26-year-old central defender is poised to make his return to the Milan matchday squad after a hiatus of more than two months, his last appearance dating back to a 2-2 draw with Salernitana on December 22.
Tomori’s absence was attributed to a muscular injury in his hamstring sustained during the aforementioned Salernitana match, leading to his omission from 13 consecutive fixtures across various competitions. This includes nine Serie A matches, as well as two matches each in the Coppa Italia and Europa League.
Before his injury setback, Tomori had amassed 16 league appearances, contributing three goals to Milan’s campaign. Additionally, he had been an integral part of the Rossoneri’s Champions League group stage, featuring in all six matches.
