Possessing a colossal wealth, yet even Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar combined cannot match a fraction of Mathieu Flamini’s fortune, the emerging tycoon in the football world.
Born in 1984 in Marseille, France, Mathieu Flamini is no stranger to avid football fans, having spent time playing for Arsenal FC in the Premier League, and notably reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2005/06. Flamini now commands immense respect as he transitions into a leading figure in the biofuel industry. His foray into this promising field stemmed from a fortuitous acquaintance with businessman Pasquale Granata, who had a keen interest in biofuel production during his time at AC Milan.
With guidance from Professor Anna Maria Raspoli Galletti, renowned for her scientific contributions to the study and application of biofuels, Flamini and a consortium of partners decided to invest millions of euros to establish GFBiochemicals Ltd. The highlight of GFBiochemicals Ltd.’s operations is the production of levulinic acid.
Scientifically known as 4-oxopentanoic acid, levulinic acid is an organic compound classified as a ketoacid. It exists as white crystalline solid, soluble in water, ethanol, and diethyl ether. This acid is derived from cellulose-containing materials such as agricultural residues like corn stover or wood chips, among other plant wastes.
It’s worth noting that levulinic acid has been identified by the US Department of Energy as a key chemical for replacing equivalent synthetic chemicals, thereby fostering a greener planet for the future. Its applications span various domains including food additives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and the production of synthetic plastics and rubber.
According to Forbes magazine, the 40-year-old former football star now holds a 60% stake in GFBiochemicals Ltd. The company’s estimated worth is around 30 billion euros, following its listing on the stock exchange. Consequently, the French midfielder is estimated to possess approximately 18 billion euros. This surpasses the asset values of these football stars, with Cristiano Ronaldo at 500 million euros, Lionel Messi at 400 million euros, and Neymar at 200 million euros.
