Neymar managed to evade a penalty of $3 million after a court decision, despite being accused of causing environmental harm by constructing a lake on his estate.
The dispute originated from a formal grievance filed with Mangaratiba City Hall, prompted by a video shared by Neymar on his Instagram account.
The video purportedly displayed the creation of an artificial lake on his property located in Mangaratiba, a town situated along the southern coast of Rio.
Various organizations, such as the local attorney general’s office, the state civil police, and environmental protection agencies, conducted an investigation into Neymar’s case.
Nevertheless, Judge Adriana Ramos de Mello overturned the penalty and accusations after a report from the state environmental authority INEA stated that the construction project did not need specific environmental permits.
The dispute emerged when an initial allegation concerning an ecological offense was brought to the attention of Mangaratiba City Hall.
This accusation originated from a video shared by Neymar on his Instagram account, purportedly displaying the construction of an artificial lake on his property located in Mangaratiba, a town situated on the southern coast of Rio.
