Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall is reportedly a target for Borussia Dortmund as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
Hall, who joined the Magpies on a permanent deal from Chelsea, has struggled for game time since his arrival at St James’ Park. Dortmund’s interest in the left-back has emerged as Newcastle prepare to revamp their squad for the 2024/25 campaign.
According to sources from GMS, Dortmund has identified Hall as a potential target and is contemplating the possibility of offering him a chance to play in the Bundesliga for the first time in his career.
This decision comes despite Edin Terzic’s team still being in contention for a place in the Champions League final.
It has been revealed that the German giants are closely monitoring the 19-year-old’s situation, as it remains uncertain what the future holds for him at St James’ Park.
Although Eddie Howe has praised Hall’s talent and there are talks of securing him with a permanent contract at the end of the season, there are doubts about his long-term prospects at Newcastle.
GMS sources have also indicated that Hall is not open to another loan spell with a Premier League rival for the 2024/25 season.
In the event that he cannot secure a regular starting position due to competition from players like Dan Burn, Newcastle may consider allowing him to move abroad.
Nevertheless, the young player from England’s under-20 team showcased his skills during the match against Burnley, helping Newcastle United maintain their pursuit of a European qualification spot. This impressive performance has left manager Eddie Howe undecided about granting a temporary departure for the player.
According to sources, Crystal Palace, a domestic rival, has expressed interest in signing Hall. Manager Oliver Glasner is eager to strengthen his squad for his inaugural full season at Selhurst Park. However, a swift return to London does not seem likely at this point in time.
