Victor Osimhen has resumed training with Napoli following his withdrawal from international duty with Nigeria and may potentially be fit for the upcoming match against Atalanta.
The center-forward had been compelled to decline his national team call-up due to the reoccurrence of inflammation in a pre-existing scar, which had previously sidelined him from the 1-1 draw against Inter.
Currently, Osimhen is undergoing separate training sessions under the supervision of fitness staff, distinct from his teammates. Encouragingly, there has been noticeable progress in his rehabilitation.
As reported by Sky Sport Italia, it is anticipated that the striker will be ready to participate in Saturday’s fixture against Atalanta. The match is scheduled to commence at 11:30 GMT at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona and holds significant implications for European qualification.
There is even speculation that Osimhen could feature in the starting lineup alongside Matteo Politano and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Throughout the current season across Serie A, the Champions League, and Coppa Italia, Osimhen has amassed a total of 13 goals and four assists in 24 appearances for Napoli. Nonetheless, it is worth noting that of his 11 Serie A goals this campaign, only one was scored against teams positioned in the top half of the table, a penalty against Fiorentina.
