Napoli has officially announced that Victor Osimhen will be unable to participate in international duties for Nigeria due to injury. The forward, who was only a substitute in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Inter at San Siro, had minimal training in the days leading up to the match.
Coach Francesco Calzona confirmed that Osimhen’s absence is attributed to inflammation of a scar from a previous injury. His incomplete recovery is evident as he is notably absent from Napoli’s roster of players designated for international duty.
Osimhen is not the sole player affected, as Hamed Junior Traore will also be absent from the Ivory Coast squad, and Jesper Lindstrom will not be joining Denmark’s team.
Meanwhile, other Napoli players, including Alex Meret, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, and Giacomo Raspadori, have been called up for duty with Italy, Jens Cajuste with Sweden, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia with Georgia, Stanislav Lobotka with Slovakia, Leo Ostigard with Norway, Mathias Olivera with Uruguay, Amir Rrahmani with Kosovo, and Piotr Zielinski with Poland.
