Controversial former Juventus attacking midfielder Mohammed Ihattaren finds himself once again unaffiliated with a club following the termination of his contract by Sparta Praha in the Czech First League.
The 22-year-old has mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Sparta, effective as of Easter Sunday.
Ihattaren’s association with Sparta began in December 2023 when he signed a one-year contract with the option for an additional three years. However, by the conclusion of January, the club disclosed that he would be training with the reserve squad to regain his physical condition and competitive edge.
Despite this arrangement, Ihattaren failed to make an appearance for either Sparta Praha’s first team or their reserve squad, resulting in his current status as a free agent.
It has been nearly two years since Ihattaren last participated in a competitive match, which occurred in April 2022 for Jong Ajax in the Dutch Eerste Divisie. Prior to this, he briefly featured for the Ajax first team in their KNVB Cup final loss to PSV earlier in the same month.
Initially groomed in PSV’s academy, Ihattaren transferred to Juventus in the summer of 2021 for a reported fee of approximately €2 million, subsequently being loaned out to Sampdoria.
During his tenure at Sampdoria, the former Netherlands youth international frequently missed training sessions and was not included in any first team fixtures.
Following a string of personal issues and legal entanglements, Juventus officially terminated Ihattaren’s contract in July 2023.
