Forward Kylian Mbappe left the technical bench to join his mother in the stands after being substituted in the second half of the match between PSG and AS Monaco.
PSG were held to a goalless draw by AS Monaco in the match corresponding to Matchday 24 of Ligue 1. In this match, forward Kylian Mbappe had a lackluster performance and was substituted immediately after the first half.
Notably, the 1998-born star did not sit on the bench with his teammates but changed clothes and went to sit in the stands with his mother, Fayza Lamari.
Cameras at the stadium captured images of the French player smiling in the stands while watching his teammates play below. French media suggested that Mbappe’s actions were disrespectful to his teammates and were perceived as a challenge to manager Luis Enrique after being substituted.
Speaking to the press after the match, the Spanish coach said that he substituted Mbappe early because he wanted PSG to get used to playing without the 1998-born striker.
In fact, the Parisian team played better after Mbappe was substituted, however, they still couldn’t break through AS Monaco’s defense.
As for Mbappe, the French forward will certainly leave PSG in the summer transfer window of 2024. Currently, it is unclear where the 1998-born forward will go next, however, according to media speculation, he is likely to join Real Madrid.
Losing Mbappe on a free transfer will be a significant loss for PSG, as the French club has invested heavily in paying his salary and extending his contract in previous seasons.
The French club is also struggling to find a player who can fill Mbappe’s position, with names such as Marcus Rashford of Manchester United and Victor Osimhen of Napoli being mentioned.
