Former Inter president Massimo Moratti made a poignant return to the club’s training facility in Appiano Gentile today, marking a significant and emotive event for the institution.
The distinguished Italian entrepreneur, currently serving as the chairman of energy conglomerate Saras, notably held ownership of the Nerazzurri from 1995 to 2013. During his tenure, Moratti orchestrated the acquisition of numerous renowned talents, including Ronaldo, and invested a substantial sum, potentially exceeding €1 billion from his personal coffers, into the club’s operations.
Over the span of Moratti’s 18-year stewardship at Inter, the club achieved significant success, securing five Serie A titles, four Coppa Italia trophies, four Supercoppa Italiana victories, the UEFA Cup, and the Champions League title, the latter triumph being a pivotal moment during their illustrious Treble-winning campaign under the management of Jose Mourinho.
Addressing a gathering of journalists at Appiano Gentile, as reported by Calciomercato.com, Moratti offered insights into his return and the significance of his invitation to the Inter training center.
“For me it’s a very nice homecoming, emotional, a very nice thing. Thank you for the invitation, I’m curious to see what has changed in recent years.”
