Since Lucas Andersen’s arrival at Loftus Road, there is growing optimism regarding Marti Cifuentes’ potential summer acquisitions. As he embarks on his inaugural managerial role in England, the Spaniard has steered the R’s out of the Championship relegation zone. This feat comes on the heels of an impressive streak, during which the team suffered only one defeat in their last nine games. Cifuentes assumed managerial duties in late October following the dismissal of his predecessor, Gareth Ainsworth, who was let go after a string of six consecutive league losses.
The 41-year-old transitioned to Queens Park Rangers from Swedish club Hammarby, where he successfully led the team into European competition. Clearly, Cifuentes’ accomplishments in Scandinavia did not escape the attention of the QPR leadership.
While Cifuentes’ appointment represented a gamble, it has proven to be a shrewd move for the West London outfit thus far. Equally commendable is Cifuentes’ astute recruitment efforts during his brief tenure with the club.
Among the signings that have flourished under Cifuentes, Lucas Andersen stands out as the most notable for the R’s.
