Crystal Palace is reportedly considering offers exceeding £50 million for the services of defender Marc Guehi, with various clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal, expressing interest. Guehi, 23, joined Crystal Palace from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and has since become a mainstay in the team, featuring in 108 matches across all competitions.
Guehi’s outstanding performances at Crystal Palace have garnered recognition from England manager Gareth Southgate, who has awarded the center-back nine senior international caps since his debut in March 2022.
Despite currently being sidelined due to a knee injury, Guehi has attracted attention from several Premier League clubs and is anticipated to be in high demand ahead of the 2024-25 season.
However, despite the appointment of new head coach Oliver Glasner, Guehi’s future at Selhurst Park remains uncertain as he approaches the final two years of his contract this summer.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Guehi is expected to depart Crystal Palace ahead of the next season, prompting the club to begin compiling a list of potential replacements. Interested parties in Guehi will likely need to surpass the £50 million fee paid by Manchester United for former Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019.
Both Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with Guehi recently, although Manchester United’s interest may hinge on the appointment of Dan Ashworth as the club’s new sporting director. Manchester United is prioritizing the recruitment of a new central defender this summer amidst uncertainties surrounding the futures of Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, and Jonny Evans.
Similarly, Liverpool’s interest in Guehi coincides with uncertainties surrounding the future of Joel Matip at Anfield, with the Cameroonian currently sidelined with a season-ending knee injury and facing the end of his contract this summer.
Manchester United and Liverpool may face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, both of whom have expressed interest in Guehi.
Guehi might not be the only high-profile departure from Crystal Palace this summer, as players like Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise have consistently been linked with lucrative moves to top Premier League clubs.
