According to reports originating from Spain, Manchester United has entered the fray alongside Juventus and Arsenal in pursuit of Barcelona’s emerging talent, Mikayil Faye, who operates as a center-back.
At just 19 years of age, Faye currently plies his trade within Barcelona’s reserve team competing in the third division of Spanish football. Despite his youth, his performances have garnered attention from several prominent clubs. As per claims by Spanish outlet Sport (via SportWitness), United stands among the interested parties, alongside Arsenal, Juventus, Lens, Girona, Nice, and Borussia Dortmund.
Faye remains under contract with Barcelona until 2027, with a substantial release clause of €400 million (£343 million) attached. Although Barcelona anticipates incoming offers, they maintain no intentions of selling or loaning out the promising talent during the forthcoming summer transfer window. Instead, they intend to integrate him into first-team opportunities for the upcoming season. However, Faye and his representatives are purportedly open to exploring potential moves away from the club.
Meanwhile, Football Insider reports a definitive decision regarding Raphael Varane’s future with Manchester United. The defender, whose contract expires in the summer, will not have his one-year option triggered by the club.
Recent discussions between the club’s leadership and Varane have concluded with the Frenchman poised to depart upon the expiration of his current contract. Since January, Varane has been eligible to engage in negotiations and finalize pre-contract agreements with overseas clubs.
Varane’s tenure at United began in 2021 following his transfer from Real Madrid. Over the course of his tenure, he has amassed a total of 93 appearances across various competitions, finding the net twice.
Currently sidelined due to injury sustained during the recent match against Chelsea, Varane’s availability for the upcoming fixture against Bournemouth remains uncertain.
