Paul Scholes, the Manchester United legend, has expressed his disapproval of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo for wearing their hoods up during a rainy training session.
The young talents of the Red Devils were seen seeking shelter from the rain at their Trafford Training Centre, which did not sit well with the former midfielder.
While Scholes has no issue with players wearing hats and gloves, he believes that having a hood up hinders their ability to meet the required standards.
It seems that since retiring, Scholes has embraced his role as a pundit but may not fully comprehend the evolving standards of a modern football club.
As a no-nonsense, traditional midfielder, he thrived under the stern guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson and never experienced the more lenient management style that many current players require.
Reposting an official Manchester United upload on his Instagram story, Scholes said: “Don’t mind hats and gloves but no way can you train properly with your hood up… standards begin on the training pitch… bye!
Even though they lost points to their rivals, Manchester United still has a chance to secure a spot in the next season’s Champions League. Securing fifth place should be enough to qualify, and with tough matches ahead for Aston Villa and Tottenham against the top three teams, the Red Devils are in a good position to make it to the competition.
