After a disagreement over team selection for a game against Arsenal, Jadon Sancho was sidelined by United’s coach, Erik ten Hag. The dispute escalated when Ten Hag openly reprimanded Sancho, leading to Sancho defending himself on social media. The standoff led to Sancho being loaned to Dortmund, where he’s regaining his form.
As Ten Hag remains in charge, it appears Sancho’s time at United is up, prompting the need for a deal to sever ties, with United seeking £40m to £50m for the 23-year-old.
Despite the high price, reports suggest United is willing to consider a player swap to settle the matter.
Sancho seems open to extending his stay at Dortmund, which could facilitate a deal, especially since United has shown interest in Dortmund’s Donyell Malen.
Malen has been crucial for Dortmund this season, playing 33 games, scoring 13 goals, and assisting five times. Since joining from PSV Eindhoven in July 2021, he’s played 106 games, scoring 32 goals and making 19 assists.
Malen, who spent time at Arsenal’s academy, is on United’s radar, and with the expected departure of Anthony Martial, United is looking to sign at least one forward this summer.
