Manchester United is prepared to allow midfielder Christian Eriksen to leave the club this summer, according to sources from Football Insider.
The 32-year-old is reportedly dissatisfied with his reduced playing time behind Scott McTominay, Kobbie Mainoo, and others at Old Trafford.
Eriksen, who is currently under contract until June 2025, is one of the highest earners at Manchester United since his arrival on a free transfer.
Despite participating in recent friendlies for Denmark against Switzerland and the Faroe Islands, Eriksen has become a peripheral figure at the club level. This season, he has made 21 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Only 11 of those appearances were as part of the starting lineup, with Eriksen accumulating a total of 1127 minutes of action in the 2023-24 campaign.
These statistics are a significant drop from his standout season in 2017-18 when he recorded 14 goals and 13 assists for Tottenham.
Eriksen was a key player for former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag, who brought him to Manchester United as a free agent in the summer of 2022. His potential departure would mark one of the biggest casualties of the new INEOS-led regime.
During his first season at United, Eriksen made 44 appearances in all competitions, starting 25 out of 31 league games he was available for, scoring once and providing eight assists. He played a role in helping Manchester United secure the League Cup last season.
In addition to Eriksen, Manchester United is also considering parting ways with Sofyan Amrabat in the upcoming summer transfer window, as reported by Football Insider on Tuesday (26 March). The club is unlikely to exercise the £21.4 million option to buy in his loan deal.
