Manchester United is reportedly getting ready to make a substantial offer for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni as they look to bolster their defense in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are eager to add depth to their backline, especially with Harry Maguire being the only available senior centre-back during their recent FA Cup semi-final win against Coventry City.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that Manchester United will indeed acquire at least one new center-back during the upcoming summer transfer window.
This news comes as Raphael Varane is expected to depart on a free transfer. In his recent column for Caught Offside, Romano stated, “It is certain that they will secure a new center-back this summer, as I have been reporting since September 2023.
However, the specific target’s name will be determined at a later stage.” Romano also mentioned that players such as Gleison Bremer, Jean-Clair Todibo, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Antonio Silva have been scouted, and there is a possibility that United may make two signings in that position.
Nevertheless, it is currently too early to identify the exact players they will prioritize. With new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe aiming to bring in young talent, there have been numerous rumors circulating regarding the potential identity of this new center-back.
According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Manchester United is currently in the process of preparing a substantial offer for Inter Milan defender Bastoni. The Red Devils are reportedly willing to spend approximately 60 million euros to secure his services.
Despite being 25 years old, this move reflects their strategy of acquiring promising young talent to strengthen their squad. The offer further emphasizes United’s determination under Erik Ten Hag to secure Bastoni’s services.
