According to a recent survey, supporters of Liverpool Football Club expressed their preference for club icon Steven Gerrard to take over as coach, rather than Zinedine Zidane or Ruben Amorim, to succeed Jurgen Klopp.
The team has been actively searching for a new manager since Klopp announced his departure from the club at the conclusion of the ongoing season. Over the past few months, various coaches have been linked to the position, with Amorim from Sporting CP emerging as the frontrunner.
The supporters of the Reds have made their choice for the potential addition to the team in the upcoming 2024-25 season, and it is none other than the club’s legendary figure, Gerrard.
In a recent survey conducted by LiveScore Bet, 2,036 individuals were asked about their preferred candidate for the next head coach.
The results indicated that 41% of the fans favored Gerrard to take charge, while Xabi Alonso and Zidane followed closely behind with 18% and 8% of the vote share, respectively.
Graham Potter secured 6% of the votes, while Ange Postecoglou and Roberto De Zerbi both received 5%. Amorim and Julian Nagelsmann each obtained 4% of the votes, with Hansi Flick receiving 3% and Luis Enrique garnering 2%.
Gerrard’s potential as a future Liverpool manager was once highly regarded, but his performance as a coach in recent years has significantly diminished his reputation. Currently, he holds the position of coach for Al-Shabab, a team in the Saudi Pro League, who are currently struggling in ninth place with 35 points from 28 matches.
