Pete O’Rourke has disclosed the cost of the defender, as Liverpool shows interest in signing Goncalo Inacio, who is a favorite of their top managerial target, Ruben Amorim.
Sporting Lisbon had accepted the likelihood of losing the 22-year-old soon, with both Liverpool and Manchester United expressing interest. Another promising player from Sporting, Marcus Edwards, is also on the radar of the Reds.
However, it is worth noting that Portuguese clubs, like Sporting, frequently include “very high” buyout clauses in their players’ contracts.
Liverpool has the opportunity to acquire Inacio for a fee of £40 million. This price is justified by the fact that he is a Portugal international and specializes in playing on the left side of central defense, a position that is currently lacking in top-tier players.
Inacio has played in 41 matches under Amorim for Sporting across all competitions this season, and he has already accumulated more than 150 appearances for his club.
The defender, who has earned six caps for the Portugal national team, first making an appearance in March of last year, is a consistent presence on the field.
The Reds are interested in the player primarily for his defensive skills, although his proficiency in attacking positions would also be a valuable addition.
Having scored two goals in his six appearances for Portugal, the centre-back has already netted four goals for Sporting in the current season.
