Barcelona’s striker, Robert Lewandowski, has articulated the strategic approach necessary for Barcelona to secure victory against Napoli in the upcoming second leg of the Champions League Round of 16.
The initial encounter between Napoli and Barcelona concluded in a 1-1 stalemate, characterized by goals from both teams’ prominent goal scorers, Victor Osimhen and Lewandowski himself. Notably, this match marked Francesco Calzona’s inaugural managerial appearance for Napoli. Despite Napoli’s resilience in leveling the scoreline after initially trailing 1-0, Barcelona exhibited significant dominance during the first half of the match.
Lewandowski emphasizes the imperative for Barcelona to replicate their formidable performance from the first leg, particularly the relentless pressure exerted on Napoli, in order to emerge victorious in the return leg scheduled in Catalonia next Tuesday.
“We played really well against Napoli, in the first 30 minutes, we played really well. We needed that second goal, but now we have the home leg to do it,” the Poland international said in a recent interview with Barcelona’s social media channels.
“If we play from the start as we did in the first half in Naples, then I think we can win and score more goals. What we want to do is be in the next round.
“Napoli are a dangerous team with really good players, but we want to win this game, and, even though there is still time before then, we want to win all our matches up until then as well.”
