Reports indicate that Jack Grealish is poised to depart from Manchester City during the upcoming summer transfer window, as Pep Guardiola shifts his focus towards securing a replacement player.
Manchester City had invested approximately £100m to acquire Grealish from Aston Villa, one of their Premier League competitors, back in 2021. While the 2022/23 season proved to be a standout year for the midfielder at the Etihad Stadium, he has encountered challenges in the current season.
Jack Grealish set to leave Etihad this summer?
The talented England player has faced setbacks due to injuries and the arrival of Jeremy Doku during the summer. Despite making 28 appearances across all competitions, Grealish has only managed to score three goals and provide two assists.
Recently, he returned from injury and played for 29 minutes as a substitute in Man City’s 0-0 draw against Arsenal.
However, after the match, Guardiola approached Grealish on the pitch and expressed his dissatisfaction with the midfielder’s performance. Presenter Richard Keys, on the other hand, accused Guardiola of putting on a show for the cameras.
Man City will sign Pedro Neto
It has been suggested that Man City may consider signing Wolves standout Pedro Neto as a potential replacement.
‘The imminent sale of Grealish by Man City could significantly impact the summer transfer market.
‘Primarily, it means that the defending Premier League champions will be in search of another winger.
‘According to FootballTransfers, they might turn their attention to Wolves’ Pedro Neto – provided they are not deterred by the Portuguese star’s recent injury issues.
‘This development could be disappointing for Arsenal, who have had their sights set on the 24-year-old for a transfer to the Emirates Stadium. Tottenham has also shown interest in the former Braga player.
‘Given City’s financial strength, they are currently the frontrunners to secure Neto if they decide to pursue the player seriously.’.
