Kai Havertz scored a historic goal in Arsenal’s 6-0 thrashing of Sheffield United on Monday night.
The German star netted Arsenal’s fourth goal in the first 25 minutes at Bramall Lane, taking his tally to eight goals in all competitions for the Gunners.
Other players who found the back of the net were Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Declan Rice and Ben White, but Havertz stole the spotlight with his milestone goal.
Havertz fired a superb shot past Ivo Grbic and, as Sky Sports reported, his goal was the 150,000th in the history of the English top flight.
The former Chelsea forward achieved a significant milestone by scoring his 20th goal of the season for Arsenal in a 6-0 thrashing of Sheffield United. Arsenal had already scored five goals in the first half before White added the sixth with a brilliant shot from outside the box in the 58th minute.
The emphatic win also made them create history as a club. They became the first team in English football history to net at least five goals in three consecutive away games. They had also scored five goals at Burnley, after hammering West Ham 6-0 at their London Stadium the week before.
The result was expected against Sheffield United, who set an unwanted record of their own.
They became the first team in English football league history to let in at least five goals in four consecutive home games in all competitions. Brighton had scored five goals against them twice – and Aston Villa had won 5-0 at their ground in early February.
Arsenal have been in superb form since a mid-season trip to Dubai, winning their last seven league games in a row.
Mikel Arteta thinks his team are experiencing the best moment under his leadership since he took over in 2019.
“I’ve seen a lot of teams struggling against Sheffield United, it’s really difficult to open them up,” he said, as per talkSPORT.
“But from the beginning we showed that positivity, that quality as well. In short spaces we were really good and we looked a threat.
“The players, the form they’re in, they’re confident, the chemistry, the determination that they are showing in every ball.
“They want more and they still believe that they can improve because we can improve in certain things and it’s important that we maintain that.
“Without looking at the numbers it’s probably the best that we’ve been but it has to be at the end of the season and we are focused on that.”
