Carmine Nunziata has assembled a robust Italy U21 squad for the forthcoming European Championship qualifiers against Latvia and Turkey in March. The squad comprises notable players from prominent clubs such as Juventus, Roma, Bologna, and Championship side Leeds.
Among the noteworthy inclusions on Nunziata’s roster are Fabio Miretti from Juventus, Edoardo Bove from Roma, and Giovanni Fabbian from Bologna. This trio collectively boasts 61 league appearances for top half Serie A clubs during the 2023-24 season.
Furthermore, Cesare Casadei of Chelsea, who clinched both the Golden Ball and Golden Boot at the U20 World Cup last summer, has earned a spot in the current Italy U21 squad. Additionally, Cher Ndour, on loan from Braga and contracted with Paris Saint-Germain until 2028, is also part of the squad.
Defenders Matteo Ruggeri from Atalanta and Roberto Calafiori from Bologna, currently engaged in Serie A action with his club against Empoli, have been called up to bolster the Italy U21 defensive lineup.
Exciting talent Michael Kayode from Fiorentina and the seasoned Lorenzo Pirola, who frequently serves as captain, are also among those selected.
Wilfried Gnonto, not included in the senior squad, returns to the junior side alongside Lorenzo Colombo, Francesco Pio Esposito, Gaetano Oristanio, Tommaso Baldanzi, and Giuseppe Ambrosino, who are enlisted as other attacking options.
Italy U21 is scheduled to face their Latvian counterparts on March 22 at 17:45, followed by a match against Turkey on March 26 at the same time.
