La Gazzetta dello Sport underscores the advantageous outcome for Juventus resulting from the failed swap deal between Dusan Vlahovic and Romelu Lukaku during the summer transfer window, as their striker has outperformed the Belgian with 15 Serie A goals compared to Lukaku’s nine.
Vlahovic played a pivotal role in Juventus’ 3-2 victory over Frosinone on Sunday, contributing two goals and one assist. With this performance, the 24-year-old has amassed a total of 15 goals in Serie A this season, trailing only behind Inter’s Lautaro Martinez, who has scored 22 goals.
Furthermore, Vlahovic has emerged as the most prolific player in Europe’s top five leagues in the year 2024.
Highlighted in the printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday, Juventus finds solace in the fact that negotiations with Chelsea for the swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku did not come to fruition. Consequently, Vlahovic remained with Juventus, while Lukaku eventually joined Roma on a dry loan arrangement.
Journalist Andrea Masala noted in Gazzetta’s article on Monday that Vlahovic has demonstrated greater efficiency than Lukaku this season.
Lukaku has netted nine goals in 22 Serie A appearances, with a total of 16 goals in 32 matches across all competitions. The Chelsea loanee has averaged one goal every 172 minutes for Roma this term.
In contrast, Vlahovic has scored 15 goals in 25 games across all competitions for Juventus, with a goal-scoring rate of one goal every 109 minutes in the 2023-24 season.
